Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 5, 2026

SellMyTrains is a Trainz website operated by Trainz.com, Inc. (“Trainz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how we handle personal information through sellmytrains.com, including requests to sell a train collection, quote requests, contact forms, and newsletter subscriptions.

Trainz.com and other websites have their own privacy notices and cookie controls. Your cookie choices on SellMyTrains do not automatically apply to those websites. Visiting this website does not, by itself, give permission for optional analytics or advertising tracking.

1. Information we collect and why

The information involved depends on what you do:

Information collected by activity, and the purpose of each
Activity Information involved Purpose
Ask a question or request a quote Contact details you provide, your message, details or photographs of your trains or collection, and general location information derived from your IP address when you submit the form Respond to you, assess your collection, discuss a possible purchase, and help detect misuse of the form
Arrange a sale, collection, or shipment Contact and collection-location details, agreed transaction details, and information needed to arrange payment or transport Complete the arrangement you request and maintain related business records
Subscribe to updates Your name, email address, subscription request, and unsubscribe preferences Send the newsletter you request and manage your subscription
Visit the website Technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages, and connection or error information Deliver the website, troubleshoot problems, and help detect misuse
Allow optional analytics or marketing Cookie or device identifiers and information about visits, referral sources, and interactions with the website Understand website use or measure advertising, according to the categories you enable
Set privacy preferences Your category choices, when they were saved, their expiry, and applicable browser privacy-signal restrictions Remember and apply your choices

We obtain information directly from you and your browser. Service providers involved in your request may also supply information such as submission or delivery status. Please do not put passwords, payment-card details, or unrelated sensitive information in general messages or collection photographs.

2. Cookies and privacy preferences

Cookies are small records stored by your browser. Scripts, pixels, and similar technologies can also process information, including when they do not set a cookie.

Select in the footer to review or change your choices. You can reject optional categories and still use our contact, quote, and newsletter forms.

Consent categories and what each controls
Category What it means on SellMyTrains Your control
Essential Technologies used to deliver requested functions, remember privacy choices, and support form security and abuse prevention These functions remain available independently of optional consent
Personalization Optional features that remember preferences or customize your experience, where offered Off unless you enable them
Analytics Optional measurement of website visits and interactions, including Google Analytics when enabled Off unless you enable it
Marketing Optional advertising measurement and related advertising technologies, including Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising/Bing UET, and Keap browsing tracking when enabled Off unless you enable it; subject to Global Privacy Control restrictions

A category being available does not mean a provider is running. Optional integrations require permission for their relevant category. Essential processing is not a general exemption for advertising or browsing analytics.

We save the current privacy preference record in a first-party cookie for SellMyTrains, including when you reject optional categories. Its configured lifetime is 180 days from your saved decision, unless you change your choice, your browser removes the cookie sooner, or a relevant policy change requires a new decision. Ordinary page visits do not restart that period. This record is held in your browser; the consent component does not maintain a separate central history of every consent decision.

If you use another browser or device, clear your cookies, or block storage, we may need to ask again. Your browser may prevent us from saving an updated choice; the privacy interface will explain when a choice cannot be saved reliably.

You can withdraw optional consent through . The controls apply to subsequent optional activity on this website. They cannot recall information already transmitted or automatically delete information held by a provider. Any required reload or problem applying a choice will be explained in the interface. You can also delete cookies through your browser settings.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

To stop browser-based advertising activity on SellMyTrains, turn Marketing off:

Opening this control does not by itself record an opt-out. Turn Marketing off and save your choice in the panel that appears. Rejecting all optional categories, or enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, has the same effect for this browser.

These controls apply to this browser only. For a request that goes further — including information associated with your name or email address — contact us at legal@trainz.com or 1-866-285-5840 and identify SellMyTrains as the website concerned.

3. Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control, or GPC, is a browser signal requesting that websites limit certain uses of personal information. When we detect it, we restrict SellMyTrains’ Marketing category for that browser. Accept all does not override an active GPC signal.

We remember that restriction in the browser’s privacy record. Marketing does not automatically turn back on if the signal later disappears. Changing a remembered restriction requires a fresh, explicit marketing choice when the signal is no longer active, subject to applicable requirements.

Analytics remains a separate optional choice. GPC does not subscribe or unsubscribe you from our newsletter. For a privacy request concerning information associated with your name or email address, contact us using the details below.

4. Services used on this website

Keap / Infusionsoft. We use Keap services to process forms, manage contact information, and support email communications. Submitting a form sends the information needed for that request to the relevant service even if you reject optional cookies. This is separate from permission to track your browsing.

Keap also provides a separate browsing-tracking service, which records the pages you visit on this website and the address you arrived from, and associates that activity with a contact record where one can be identified. It sets a contactId cookie for that purpose. This is part of the Marketing category: it is not loaded unless you enable Marketing, and it is not used to process your form submissions. If you turn Marketing off, this website stops requesting it and reloads the page so that it is not loaded again.

Google reCAPTCHA. Our forms include Google’s reCAPTCHA service for security and abuse prevention. It may process browser and device signals, network information, and interaction data and use cookies to help distinguish automated activity from human use. A shared form can appear on multiple pages, so its security resources may load on those pages. This security use is separate from Google Analytics and Google Ads. It does not mean you have agreed to marketing tracking. Google describes its processing of reCAPTCHA customer data in its reCAPTCHA documentation (opens in a new tab).

IPinfo. When you send us a message using our contact form, we look up general location information for your internet connection using IPinfo, and store the result with your message. The lookup sends your IP address to IPinfo and returns information such as an approximate city, region, and country. We use it to give context to your enquiry and to help detect misuse of the form. It runs only when you submit the form, not when you open the page, and it is separate from optional analytics and advertising, so your cookie choices do not switch it off. See the IPinfo privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

Google Analytics. If you enable Analytics, this service can help us understand visits and website interactions. Google receives technical and usage information associated with that activity. See how Google uses information from websites using its services (opens in a new tab).

Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising / Bing UET. If you enable Marketing, these services can measure visits or actions associated with advertising and support advertising audiences where configured. Information can include online identifiers and browsing or interaction activity. See Google’s information about partner websites (opens in a new tab) and the Microsoft Privacy Statement (opens in a new tab).

Website and asset delivery. Hosting providers deliver the website and its supporting files. Some shared privacy-interface files may be delivered through infrastructure used by Trainz.com. Downloading those files does not transfer your SellMyTrains cookie choice to Trainz.com or authorize optional tracking there.

5. When information is disclosed

Your request may be handled by the relevant Trainz team and providers that supply forms, email, hosting, technical support, payment, or shipping services. The information involved depends on the service needed. Optional analytics and advertising disclosures follow the choices described above.

We may also disclose relevant information when required by law, to address fraud or protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable protections.

Advertising-related disclosures of online identifiers and website activity may constitute a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under some privacy laws, even when no money is exchanged for the information. To opt out of this browser-based activity on SellMyTrains, turn off Marketing in , reject all optional categories, or enable GPC. Contact us for requests that extend beyond this browser’s settings.

6. Newsletter choices

Signing up for our newsletter is a separate choice from accepting optional cookies. Rejecting Marketing cookies does not cancel an existing subscription, and accepting them does not subscribe you.

Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email, or contact us, to stop newsletter messages. We may still send communications needed to answer your inquiry or complete a transaction you requested. We may retain the information needed to respect an unsubscribe request.

7. Retention and security

Retention depends on why information was collected: handling an inquiry, completing a transaction, maintaining required records, resolving a dispute, or honoring a privacy or unsubscribe request. The 180-day preference-cookie period is not the retention period for all other information.

We use safeguards intended to protect personal information, but no website or transmission method is completely secure. Please contact us if you believe information has been misused.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of personal information, correct it, request deletion, or opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Other rights may include restricting certain uses of sensitive information, withdrawing consent, objecting to processing, or appealing a denied request.

Send requests to legal@trainz.com or call 1-866-285-5840 and identify SellMyTrains as the website concerned. Where needed, we will take reasonable steps to verify identity or an authorized agent’s authority. Browser-based advertising opt-outs can be made through the controls above without creating an account.

Requests are subject to applicable exceptions and response periods. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. If you wish to appeal a decision, reply to our response or contact the Legal Department. You may also contact the relevant privacy regulator where that right applies.

9. International visitors and children

Trainz operates in the United States. Our providers may process information in other countries, where privacy laws may differ. Applicable protections for international processing depend on the service and legal requirements involved.

SellMyTrains’ collection-buying services are intended for adults. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can review and address it appropriately.

10. Other websites and policy changes

Links to Trainz.com, social networks, or other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Review their notices and choices separately.

We may update this policy as services or practices change. The effective date identifies the published version. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request a new choice before using information for a new purpose that needs consent.
